In quel live del '71 c'è forse la miglior versione della storia del mud shark, e tanto basta per consegnarlo all'eternità.
Però finalmente (e spero sia ovvio che li dico con il massimo di stima e "affetto da remoto") posso cogliere in fallo quel vero pozzo di scienza che è il nostro rob: la versione estesa conta ben 6 dischi, mentre il cofanetto da 4 comprensivo dell'esibizione dei Persuasion è quello del concerto alla Carnegie Hall (benché sempre del 71), non Fillmore.

Non l'avevo confuso con quello della Carnegie Hall di cui ho la versione "corta", low budget con mini libretto. L'altra è costosissima e credo fuori catalogo. Ho conosciuto via internet "zappofili" pazzeschi che hanno molto, ma molto più di me...Comunque Dweezil e Moon stanno gestendo meravigliosamente un archivio sconfinato. Buon per loro e per noi appassionati più o meno (io senza alcun dubbio tra i meno) accaniti di Zappa.

PS: non sono uno di quei mostri che ricordano a memoria ogni dettaglio di una discografia sterminata, ma a parte due o tre uscite postume (che mancano solo per pigrizia) di quella discografia ho tutto. E ne amo un buon 80%.

I miei complimenti! Arrivo ad una decina di titoli:
in vinile, il doppio Uncle Meat e il cofanetto triplo solo strumentale Shut Up and Play Yer Guitar più un album in condominio con Jean Luc Ponty ove compone, arrangia il materiale eccetto un brano dove suona la chitarra e fa un bell'assolo col wah wah e dirige sul secondo lato un ensemble misto con diversi musicisti classici per un lungo pezzo orchestrale;
in cd, due album dal vivo estratti dal'ultimo grande tour del 1988 con quella favolosa band arricchita da una sezione fiati di cinque elementi, uno singolo e l'altro doppio; Weasels Ripped My Flesh; Hot Rats; il live singolo del '71 al Fillmore East che ho ricomprato a causa dell'usura della copia vinilica; il secondo volume che è doppio della serie You Can't Do That on Stage Anymore inciso in tour ad Helsinki nel '74 con una band stratosferica e appunto il mini cofanetto con i due show interi dell'ottobre '71 alla Carnegie Hall.

Seconda fase a gironi: nei primi due pochi dubbi nel scegliere le mie preferite, un paio un po' a sorpresa perché viste come delle "outsider".
Negli ultimi 2 ho dovuto tenere fuori un paio che davvero avrebbero meritato dei punti...se ce ne fossero stati 12
Un punto non della bandiera ma per il valore delle song di Elvis, Tom Jones e soprattutto Give peace a Chance. Che di questi tempi andrebbe più riproposta dovunque, non solo nelle piazze

Tra le eliminazioni sorprendenti della prima fase annovererei quella di A Salty Dog, a cui sono legato da ricordi fanciulleschi, anche perché era la sigla di chiusura di Jukebox sport che andava in onda su Tele Capodistria. Eddie non prendertela se vado O.T. ammetti che vedevi anche tu Tele Capodistria già dagli anni settanta

Tra le eliminazioni sorprendenti della prima fase annovererei quella di A Salty Dog, a cui sono legato da ricordi fanciulleschi, anche perché era la sigla di chiusura di Jukebox sport che andava in onda su Tele Capodistria. Eddie non prendertela se vado O.T. ammetti che vedevi anche tu Tele Capodistria già dagli anni settanta

È stata anche la sigla di chiusura di un fortunato programma della Tv dei ragazzi della Rai (due soli canali!) chiamato Avventura curato da Bruno Modugno un'interessante figura di giornalista, romanziere, autore, regista, documentarista ecc ... naturalmente dimenticato come spesso succede
